Demanding the Immediate Release of Union President David Huerta and Condemning ICE Raids in Los Angeles

The Communications Workers of America (CWA) District 9, representing over 53,000 members across California, Hawaii, Nevada, and Guam, stands united in demanding the immediate release of David Huerta, President of SEIU-USWW California, who was unjustly detained during violent raids conducted by ICE agents in Los Angeles. These aggressive actions violate the rights of workers and immigrants and undermine the fundamental freedoms of assembly and expression guaranteed to all individuals.

The recent raids carried out by ICE agents, who were seen wearing masks and employing violent tactics, represent a clear attack on our communities. These operations generate fear and intimidation among workers who deserve a safe environment in their homes and workplaces. We categorically condemn the actions of ICE, which are not only brutal but unjustified. The right to assemble peacefully is a cornerstone of our democracy and must be protected. David Huerta’s dedication to labor rights and the struggle for justice for all workers should not be met with violence and repression. We call on all relevant authorities to release President Huerta from detention immediately. His leadership and advocacy for workers’ rights are vital to the ongoing fight for justice and equality in California and beyond.

We urge ICE and other enforcement agencies to halt all violent raids and actions that terrorize communities and disrupt the lives of hard-working families.

We demand that our rights to assemble, protest, and advocate for our communities be respected and safeguarded. We will not stand idle while our freedoms are trampled.

CWA District 9 stands in solidarity with David Huerta, SEIU-USWW members, and all workers affected by these unjust actions. Together,we will not be silenced, and we will continue to fight for justice and dignity for all.

In Unity,

Frank Arce
Vice President
CWA District 9
