TKTII Full Study Guide
Acing the AT&T Technical Knowledge Test II
Preparing for the AT&T Technical Knowledge Test II (TKT II)? Here’s a quick guide to help you succeed.
What Is the TKT II?
The TKT II is a 100-question multiple-choice test designed to measure your knowledge of technical concepts needed for certain jobs at AT&T. The test is 1 hour and 40 minutes long. AT&T uses this test to find the right people for the right jobs, with the goal of setting you up for success.
Topics Covered
The test covers five main categories:
- Basic Electricity: Topics include alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC), electrical circuits, voltage, resistance, and electrical safety.
- Basic Computer Knowledge: This section covers basic and intermediate computer functions, software, and concepts like firewalls.
- Digital Communication and Transmission: Expect questions on digital and analog signals, digital transmission, and T-carriers.
- Read and Interpret Technical Information: You’ll need to read and understand technical instructions, schematic diagrams, and flowcharts.
- Basic Math: This includes basic arithmetic with positive and negative numbers, as well as the binary system.
How to Prepare
AT&T does not provide specific study materials for the TKT II; the knowledge is expected to be acquired beforehand. The best way to prepare is through coursework or independent study.
On test day, try to arrive at least 15 minutes early to relax. During the test, read questions carefully and answer the ones you are sure of first. It’s in your best interest to answer every question since there is no penalty for guessing.
If you don’t pass, you can retake the test after six months.
