CWA President’s Update

(Sign up for email updates at the CWA National website)

November 29, 2023

Dear CWA Members and Retirees,

As many of you are aware, one of my primary goals as President of CWA is to improve communication between CWA’s national leadership and you, the active and retired members of our union. I am also committed to facilitating communication between CWA’s leaders and decision makers at our represented companies. I will be sending regular updates on the progress we are making in this area.

To that end, I am pleased to let you know that I, along with our Chief of Staff and members of the Executive Board who represent AT&T members, will be meeting with AT&T CEO John Stankey and other AT&T decision makers on December 4-5. During our two-day meeting, we will be raising issues of concern to AT&T local leaders and members, including jobs, the watermark, healthcare and other benefits, job security, and outsourcing. We will be letting the company know that we want a true partnership that recognizes that AT&T’s success is a result of the hard work and dedication of CWA members.

I am sharing this information with all CWA members and retirees because I believe that we need more communication across our districts and sectors so that we can learn from each other. We all face similar issues – whether it is the effects of private equity, threats to our hard won benefits, outsourcing, or the impact of AI.We talk about being one union, but too often we don’t act like it. As your President, I promise to do all that I can to break down those walls and bring us together so we can build a stronger CWA.

In Unity,

Claude Cummings Jr.
President
