Apprenticeship Instructors Needed: Share Your Experience and Help Build the Future
Strong apprenticeship programs depend on experienced people who are willing to pass along what they have learned. The CWA District 9 Apprenticeship and Training Trust Fund is currently looking for trained technicians with knowledge of fiber optics who may be interested in becoming part-time instructors.
Apprenticeships are especially important in skilled technical fields because some of the most valuable knowledge cannot be learned from a manual alone. Apprentices benefit from working with instructors who understand the job, have faced real-world challenges, and can teach the skills, safety practices, and problem-solving techniques needed to succeed.
Becoming an instructor is also a great opportunity for experienced and retired technicians. It provides a way to stay connected to the trade, give back to the next generation of CWA members, and help ensure that the knowledge gained over an entire career is not lost. Part-time instruction can offer the satisfaction of mentoring others while continuing to play an important role in the future of the industry.
